Lining with Plastics – Many Options, One Supplier
With the wide range of materials and technologies available to Unasco we are able to provide you with lining materials to suit your needs. Whether it is for the lining of metal components with Polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE), Perfluoroalkoxy (PFA) or Polypropylene (PP), or for the cladding of metal with Ultra High Molecular Weight Polyethylene (UHMWPE), or the adhesion of PTFE skived materials to metal substrates, Unasco are the ones to contact.
Unasco provides the market with a solution where a combination of materials is required to be used..say metal is required for strength but plastics are needed to provide surface lubricity or chemical resistance. Unasco have the technology to combine the properties of multiple materials together to provide the correct synergy. This is materials technology at its best.
Tuffclad Lime:
Comprised of virgin UHMWPE, special glass fillers and strengthening additives, Tuffclad Lime is a shatter resistant alternative to sintered Ceramics. With greater dimensional stability and wear resistance than standard UHMWPE, Tuffclad Lime is recommended in applications that have increased wear. Typically used in vibratory feeders, transfer chutes, disc and drum wear plates and bins and bunker liners.
Tuffclad Blue:
A special blend of UHMWPE, using premium grade resin, special glass fillers and a cross linking agent. Tuffclad Blue is a shatter resistant material with greater dimensional stability and wear resistance than standard UHMWPE. Tuffclad Blue is recommended in applications that require improved wear resistance typically used in feeder troughs, bin liners and transfer chutes.
Tuffclad Blue is a cross linked material. Tuffclad Blue is UV stabilised.
Tuffclad Yellow:
Tuffclad Yellow is a premium blend of UHMWPE with excellent physical properties. A Non‑stick, Abrasion Resistant Liner, light weight ultra high molecular weight polyethylene. The uniqueness of
Tuffclad Yellow lining is due to a partial cross-linking in manufacture. Tuffclad Yellow does not rust and has a good chemical resistance.
Tuffclad Black:
A specially engineered compound with an anti-static additive, Tuffclad Black is perfect for lining silos, fender faces, material handling chutes and other applications where the build-up of static electricity from the friction of materials over the surface of the plastic creates a problem.
Tuffclad Black UV stabilised.
Tuffclad unique feature:
Tuffclad Lime, Tuffclad Blue, and Tuffclad Black are produced with a wear indicator identifies when the liners need to be changed thus making maintenance simpler. This uniqueness allows you to take the guess work out of when to replace a lining. The bottom 5 mm of the sheet is coloured Orange . Orange is a high visibility colour is noticeable in most applications. This unique two tone feature does not cost any extra.
Combining the strength of steel with the chemically inert plastic liner, these systems will satisfy the most critical corrosive fluids handling requirements. Used extensively in pipes, fittings and instruments, valves, bellows, dip pipes, hoses and sight glasses, plastic lined systems are now accepted as the complete solution for the difficult environment faced by these applications, particularly in chemical plants and mining operations.
Utilising materials such as Polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE), Fluorinated Ethylene Propylene (FEP), TetraFluoroEthylene (TFE), Polyvinylidene Fluoride (PVDF), Perfluoroalkoxy (PFA) or Polypropylene (PP), Unasco are able to provide your steel components with the protection needed to survive long term in difficult environments. Typical uses for these systems are:
– Pipes – acid resistant lined pipes
– Fittings and Instruments – limiting the effects of gas and vapour diffusion
– Valves – butterfly valves, ball valves, ball check valves, valves, plug valves
– Bellows – used as expansion joints where critical application or misalignment, vibration, absorbed shock or continuous expansion prevails.
– Dip pipes – for universal corrosion resistance, PTFE lined dip pipes and inlet pipes are designed to introduce gas and fluids into reactor vessels, columns and storage tanks.
– Hoses – a variety of lined hose systems are available to meet many industrial needs
– Sight glasses – used where flow in a process line has to be visible.
